Leading lights from the arts to feature at ‘Expo’

Creative gurus and experts from the arts industry will be showcasing the very latest of the sector’s technology at an annual ‘expo’ this summer – hosted by West Nottinghamshire College.

Create Expo 2017

Create Expo, on Thursday 20 July, is the brainchild of the school of creative industries and digital technologies, an event which offers people the chance to hear the latest news from the industry, as well as see advancements in illustration, concept art, games design, TV production and virtual reality.

It’s open to anyone with an interest in the sector, or for those wishing to pursue a career in the arts. Guests will be able to speak to current students and talk to them about the skills they’ve learnt on the programmes at the college.

The star line up of guest speakers and presenters include Bart Yates, the executive producer of Blinkink, one of the UK’s top animation companies. Bart, who is based in London, will be informing the audience about the production of commercials, music videos and how they blend innovative new technologies with classical cinematic craft.

Freelance concept artist Jake Gumbleton will be talking about his experience as a professional artist for 15 years and the work he’s produced for projects such as Star Wars, James Bond and Hunger Games.

Local company Linney Group will also feature at the expo when film producer and cameraman David Clancy speaks about the film area of the business, in particular how client briefs are turned into state-of-the-art films to market a product.

Many more professionals from the industry will be giving demonstrations and holding design-related talks at the event which runs from 9.30am.

Interactive media tutor Anthony Hall, who has organised the event, said: “We’re delighted to be holding our third Create Expo at the college where we welcome the very best of the sector’s designers and artists to come and showcase the latest from the industry.

“It’s a real coup to get all of these experts under one roof to share their knowledge, expertise and hints and tips for those interested in careers in the arts industry.”

A day ticket gives access to the main speakers plus the opportunity to book on to other events happening throughout the day.

Tickets cost £5 and this includes entry to all the presentations as well as the college’s BA students’ exhibition where guests can see examples of their university-level work. There will be a business lunch and refreshments throughout the day. To book visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/182734 or call 01623 413363.
