Sporting students from West Nottinghamshire College are resting their weary limbs after a weekend of fitness in the forest.

Twenty-two learners who are training to be either gym instructors or personal trainers at the college took up the Robin Hood Adventure Challenge on Saturday (9 November) which saw them taking part in the Robin Hood 5km and 10km trail run and the Evil Sheriff off-road duathlon.

This is the sixth consecutive year that students from the sports curriculum have taken part in the event based at Sherwood Pines Forest Park.

Top positions from students competing in the running events were:

Dmitrij Lvov, (29) – 8th overall but 4th in his age category, completing in 23 minutes 58 seconds.
Adam Potter, (16) – 10th overall but 6th in his age category.
Atis Akons, (24) – 15th overall but 10th in his age category.

Programme area leader for sport Lindsey Wilson said: “Once again the dedication and commitment from our students at this annual event was impressive.

“It was great fun seeing the learners competing with so many other people and the impressive positions achieved proved that their pre-event training was definitely worthwhile.”
