A national standard for quality has been reaccredited to West Nottinghamshire College for its commitment to advice and support services.

The careers and employability team has been accredited with the Matrix standard for a further three years after holding it since 2007. Matrix is the industry benchmark for organisations that provide advice and support to individuals in their pursuit of careers, learning, as well as work and life goals.

The team of fully-qualified professionals is trained to provide a range of advice services including helping students complete their university applications and offering tips with completing job applications and interview techniques. Services are also available to members of the public who require careers advice and help with job searches.

Assessors noted particular areas of strength within the team saying they were approachable, reliable and prepared to go the extra mile. The assessor also added that it was the most “effusive feedback” she’d ever received during an assessment.

Staff, students and internal and external partners were interviewed by the assessor over two-days as part of the re-accreditation process.

Student advice and progression manager Maxine Buttery said: “This successful re-accreditation recognises the highly-professional and valuable careers and employability service provided across the college – not to mention the critical role the team plays and their importance in enabling learners to achieve their potential.

“This vigorous assessment process demonstrates the team has continually improved the provision of careers education, information, advice and guidance to students and the community since it was last assessed in 2013. Well done to everyone involved in achieving this wonderful outcome.”
