The apprentices, who were presented with certificates of achievement by the college’s people development manager have all participated in the business administration scheme which sees them employed by the college.

The scheme is designed to provide apprentices with employment within the college setting helping them develop their skills and become qualified business administrators.

The college recruits six apprentices each academic year on a one-year contract and during the two-year apprenticeship each student works in different areas of the college offering them a wide range of office experience.

Joshua Smith (21) and Shannon Wilson (17) both completed the NVQ Level 3 Business Administration Advanced Apprenticeship, while Lisa Boyce (24), Daniel Bacon (17), Kendall Pugh and Nathan Adams (both 19) completed the NVQ Level 2 Foundation Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Joshua has worked within the quality team as well as bksb – a subsidiary business of the college. Shannon has spent time in the business development unit while Lisa has enjoyed placement within the marketing team and the people development office.

Daniel has also spent time with the people development team as well as learner records and Nathan has worked with marketing staff and the care and education curriculum.

People development manager Sara Arnold said: “All six of our apprentices have made excellent progress this academic year and they should all be very proud of their achievements.

“The highlight of the year was when Daniel and Lisa were praised at a celebration for apprentices at the House of Lords for high achievement and diligence on their programmes. We’ve received fantastic feedback from all of the teams all our apprentices have worked with and I’m especially proud of those who have secured work or further studies.”
